Everybody Wants to Be Somebody

Winning in life means winning with people.  Everything we want to accomplish will require people to like us and want to help us, agree with us, or align with us.

If you want to win with people, there are 5 things you have to always remember.

We’re going to cover those 5 things in a short blog series.  Today we’re talking about the most important thing you can remember when interacting with people.

1.  Everybody wants to be Somebody

Little boys in the park pretend they’re the star basketball player taking a shot at the buzzer to win the championship game.  Little girls pretend their the princess with the entire kingdom at their disposal.  Everyone dreams of being important and everyone longs to be significant.

The converse is also true.  Nobody wants to be a “nobody.”

The world does everything it can to make people feel unimportant.  You can dramatically improve your leadership by being the counterpoint in people’s lives.  Make them feel important.  Make them feel significant.  They will love you for it.  They will be loyal to you and they will support you in any way that they can.

If you will remember that, and treat people like they are important, your ability to move and lead people will dramatically improve.

Challenge: For one week, treat everyone you encounter as if they are the most important person in the world.
