Home is School

“He also told them a parable: ‘Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?  A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.'” Luke 6:39-40

“If you send your children to Caesar, do not be surprised when they come home as Romans.” – Dr. Voddie Baucham

“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”  Proverbs 13:20

It’s July 1st.  This weekend most people in America will celebrate “Independence” day.  The irony is that more than 95% of us are anything but independent.  Our liberty is a facade.  We have forfeited the hard won freedom paid for by the blood of our forefathers and we have done so without so much as a raised voice of protest.

We are enslaved to jobs, debt, and more than anything, a mindset of total dependence.  This mindset has been programmed into us from the time we were 5 years old and our parents turned us over to the state to “educate” us.  Instead of being educated, we were schooled.  And there is a HUGE difference.

I encourage you to take this weekend and declare real independence.  Make the decision to give your children the gift that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, John Adams, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, and every other founding father was given by his parents.  Give your children the gift of being educated at home.

For all of human history, this is how it has been done, and the crazy thing is that modern Americans think their military style schools with bells and disconnected subject matter is normal.  In fact, most cannot imagine any other way.

As we wrap up the summer months and head toward the fall, we’re going to provide support to those of you who wish to pull the coax cable out of the back of your skull and escape the Matrix.  Making the leap can be intimidating.  How do I start?  What do I do?  What curriculum do I use?  Where do I find it?  etc.

We’re here to hold your hand through the process.  Comment below and follow this thread in the forum.  It will be the greatest and most rewarding adventure of your life.

  1. It is divine how we have connected at this time in our lives.  Our boys have asked to be homeschooled again; to be removed from the “prison” they call public schools.  I applaud them and at first, honestly, I was afraid.  Afraid to go against the grain.  Wouldn’t they miss their friends?  Wouldn’t they want to walk that stage?  How could I teach my son GT Physics and AP Calculus having never taken those classes myself?  I forged ahead into the abyss only to find so many others who are able to help and mentor, but what’s more is that my boys know how to “learn” from prior homeschooling so I don’t have to “teach”.  We seek and find together.  We study together.  They end up teaching me things!  To see them flourish outside of that environment makes my heart well up with joy in God’s blossoming creation as they become individuals with their own thoughts, perceptions, passions and missions.  Thank you for your support, comments, etc. in helping me solidify my “why”.  You and Sheila aren’t the only ones who will be worldschooling this year!!
