We’ve finally arrived at what is considered by most people to be a big day: Election Day 2020.
There are many who feel that if Biden wins, all hope is lost, and we are doomed.
There are many who feel that if Trump wins, all hope is lost, and we are doomed.
Both are wrong.
No matter who holds the title of “President of the United States,” on January 20, 2021, they will not hold the future.
Jesus is the Christ, the risen King, and He is on the throne.
Our hope for liberty, peace, prosperity, justice, health, fulfillment, and salvation is found in no other name.
When the Israelites were basking in the wealth and security of Solomon’s reign, God was on the throne. When they were being led in chains to Babylon God was on the throne.
When they were throwing palm branches at Jesus’ feet shouting “Hosanna,” God was on the throne. When the sky turned black as Jesus breathed his last on the cross, God was on the throne.
Empires have risen, and empires have fallen.

All the while, the King is on His throne and His purposes march forward, undeterred.
Christian, if you are reading this, where does your hope come from? Who is your trust in?
We are called to be salt and light and our presence will never be more needed than in the coming days. Are we the Body of Christ? The hands and feet of the risen Savior? Trusted with the transforming power of the Gospel? Or are we partisans invested in humanist answers to spiritual problems?
There will be many angry and hurting in the coming days. Their hearts will be wide open to learn of the true source of hope. Will we be ready to give an answer for the faith that lies within us?
Be of good cheer and let not despair take hold of you. Meditate on these passages. Pray that God would position your heart to not concern yourself with earthly outcomes, but instead to be eager to rush into the spiritual battle that is unfolding. How beautiful are the feet of them that bring good news! Amen.
